I wanted to share with you the different types of stitch markers
that I’ve used and how they fair.
I’ve found that the actual
stitch markers aren’t that easy to use—well, they’re super easy to put on, but
not quick to remove compared to other things I’ve used. There are several types—I’m
most familiar with the paper clip looking one and the circle with a clasp. See
below!
My number one recommendation for your stitch marker is a
bobby pin. Yup--just a plain ol’ bobby pin that you’d use for your hair. They’re
easy to slip through the stitch and glide right out when you’re ready to move
up a round. Super quick and easy.
Another type is a piece of string that’s a different color
than your work. It’s a bit more cumbersome to use, IMO. I have to use my hook
to slip it through the stitch, but it does come out really easy—that’s a plus,
right? But, if you’re not careful it could slip out as your working your
round or as I’ve done—work the stitch marker in your work. That happened when I
was using the same color marker as my work.
There are others out there, but these are the three that I’ve
used and will continue to use. My preference though:
1) The Bobby Pin
2) The
Piece of Yarn then
3)The Actual Stitch Marker
Have a good one!!
